My name is Darren Lidgett,
proprietor of Lidgett Computer Solutions (LCS for

This is becoming a bigger and bigger part of
my job and something I am quite passionate about.
A lot of the problems I am asked to fix are security related in some way.
The main danger on the net these days is from cyber criminals trying to
steal passwords, bank and credit cards details and other personal
information and their methods for obtaining such are getting increasingly
more complex and clever. An example is of this is shown below, in this case
fake antivirus aka "Scareware"

& Email
We all use a PC, to browse the net, keep in
touch with loved ones etc, and if you are running a business, internet
access is even more important Often calling me in can get the problem
sorted quicker and cheaper than ringing your ISP on expensive help-lines.
Virus Removal & Prevention
I come across infected PC's
on an almost daily basis. As the saying goes "Prevention is much
better than the cure". I have the tools to be able to remove viruses
and more importantly, put measures in place to help keep them at bay so you
can browse the internet safely.
Spyware Infection / Slow PC
A PC can be slow for a whole variety of
reasons, one common reason being because its
infected by Spyware. This can also show itself in the form of annoying
popup windows you get continuously appearing during browsing. These can
often to lead to privacy issues too so its important they are removed. I
can also optimise the Windows registry and your startup
so your PC starts faster, runs faster and is
a lot more stable.
Startup Problems
For one reason or another, your PC might fail
to start up properly. I have various tools & utilities for such an
occasion, to help get your PC up and running again.
Wireless Networking
This is becoming more and more popular. Most
households now have multiple PC's laptops and
game consoles, all wanting to be on the internet at the same time. Its crucial that your wireless is setup properly and
more importantly made secure so only the people you want to attach to it,

When talking about
wireless security, it does not pay to cut corners. Identity theft is the
biggest growing crime in the UK and unsecured wireless
network connections (or ones that aren’t as a secure as they could be) are
part of the reason for that. Don’t let it happen to you!! Get it done

Data Recovery
Using professional data recovery software I
have the ability to recover data from all types of media including
digital camera memory cards, USB memory sticks and even reformatted hard
drives where windows has been reinstalled. How much can be recovered
depends on individual circumstances, but I have successfully recovered
customers data under such circumstances on more occasions than not.
New PC Setup
If you have just bought a new PC and unsure
where all the cables go and what goes where, I can take the stress out of
it for you. The service includes setup, reconnection the internet, setup of
email and installation of printer etc. Also, if you have data on your old
PC and need it transferring over to the new one, this can also be done.
Windows Reinstalls
A good thing to do every so often is to
reinstall windows from scratch, thus clearing out redundant programs,
freeing up disk space and memory, essentially giving your PC a spring
clean. It also helps fix/prevent a lot of the problems mentioned already. I
can do a professional reinstall of windows for you whilst preserving all
your precious data, emails and address book etc.
